The Abbotsford Board of Education regularly meets throughout the school year. Agendas and minutes from the public Board Meetings can be accessed through the District's Electronic School Board. Below is a summary of highlights from the meeting.
Steve Stobbe, Director of Information Technology, presented a progress report to the Board detailing the accomplishments of the Information Technology Department in optimizing technology utilization. The report focused on two key areas: the ongoing renewal of the technology fleet and the continued enhancement of the district’s IT security posture.
Deputy Superintendent Pete Nuij provided a report to the Board of Education summarizing the district's strategic focus areas and progress across our elementary schools. The report highlighted key developments in the implementation of the Literacy and Numeracy Frameworks, insights from districtwide assessment data, and the district’s continued commitment to improving outcomes for priority populations, including Indigenous students, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities or diverse abilities.
Chair Petersen, Vice-Chair Wilson and Deputy Superintendent Nuij shared their learnings at the most recent Indigenous Education Council meeting.
The Board of Education approve had all three readings of School District No. 34 (Abbotsford) Trustee Election Procedures Bylaw 2026 in this one meeting and was adopted on Jan 20, 2026.
Trustee Preet Rai's motion to send thank you letters to staff at the Abbotsford School District will be added to the February 10th Public Board Meeting.
The Board of Education carried a motion to forward the following motion to the BC School Trustees' Association Annual General Meeting: THAT BCSTA urge the Ministry of Education and Childcare to work with the Ministry of Housing to develop and implement a confidential process for Boards of Education to be consulted by BC Housing as a condition prior to any project within close proximity to public schools. And further, that the consultation process be considered a confidential process with a compassionate and empathetic lens.
