Supporting Our Community During Difficult Times

Dear Abby Schools Community, 

A tragic act of violence in Tumbler Ridge yesterday resulted in the devastating loss of lives. We hold the families, students, staff, first responders, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community in our thoughts as they face an unimaginable loss.

Even when heartbreaking events like this occur outside our district, their impact can be felt deeply. Students may arrive at school with questions, worries, or strong emotions. Some may not yet have the words to express what they are feeling. Please know that our schools are caring and supportive spaces. Counsellors and support staff are available for any student who would like to talk or who may need additional support.

At home, families can help by creating space for conversation, listening without judgment, and offering reassurance. Maintaining familiar routines and reminding children that they are safe and supported can provide comfort during uncertain times.
